If you have some time, I hope you can pop over for the tutorial on my three very different projects featuring these silky paints.

I've enjoyed using these paints so much, I want to own every color! For more inspiration, you can see how I used Sparks acrylic paint on this mixed media layout.

If you don't mind popping over to Frilly and Funkie for the details, I'd like to share each of my projects in these challenges:

CAS Christmas Card For Scrapy Land

Hello, friends and visitors! It's time for a new Anything Goes challenge at Scrapy Land. I challenged myself to create in a clean and simple style.  This is in complete contrast to my mixed media canvas (see it HERE) I made this weekend, and I find CAS to be a bit more of a challenge for me. But isn't it fun to to have our creativity tested?

My photography skills are lacking, so I really just don't have a good shot of this, but hopefully you get the idea.

I used a Memory Box Snowflake Ornament to cut black card for the bottoms, and manila folder covered with contractor's foil for the tops. While this particular die is no long available at Scrapy Land, there are other snowflake ornament dies available.  The inventory is constantly being updated, so visit the shop often! The ornament tops were colored with Black Soot Distress paint, partially dried and wiped back. The snowflakes were heat embossed with holographic embossing powder.

For the background I chose water color paper and embossed with a dots folder water and colored with Festive Berries and Evergreen Bough Distress inks. My sentiment is Tim Holtz Simple Sayings inked with Black Soot Distress Archival ink. Scrapy Land also has a wonderful assortment of embossing folders available, so be sure to check out their latest offering here.

I'm really enjoying the CAS style. I hope you'll pop over to Scrapy Land blog to see the amazing inspiration from my teammates! I hope you'll find some time to join our Anything Goes challenge. Just be sure to use at least one brand die that Scrapy Land carries in the shop to qualify for one of two $10 gift certificate prizes! We'll also be on the lookout for our Top Picks!

Mixed Media Layout-'Whisper to My Heart'

Hello friends and visitors! It's another rainy day here in the south, so I spent my afternoon in the Closet playing with some of my hoarded 'trash'. It's always fun to create just for fun. Here is my mixed media layout I made inspired by the mood board at Mixed Media and Art.

Not too much detail of the process, since I was just having fun. I have a few close-up shots of the details and a list of products used at the end of the post.

The focal image is an old stamp from my stash--maker unknown. Lot's of layers of DOX and Distress crayons takes her image back a few years. I was inspired by the dreamy blues and neutrals in the photo collage.

More inspiration comes from the bricks and cracks and the embossed pendants. I did a tutorial on how to make my coins shown below. You can see my tutorial HERE. All I did was change the color from gold to vintage silver using Prima's Sparks Raven's Eye paint and Distress crayon. Same for the 'washers'.

Inspired by ...the paint brushes...

...the feathers and the wispy word 'wings'.

And what about all that nubby texture? I used the beautiful Prima Sparks Magical Pond on some Art Stones and quote.

I'm sharing with these challenges:
Inspired by the blues in the flowers, the texture of the shingles, and the swag of vines (echoed by the single thread swaying over my layout.

Thank you for your visit and for all your wonderful comments!

Another Birthday Card

Welcome! I have a short post today for what was actually my first birthday card to wish Simon Says Stamp a Happy 7th Birthday.

Yes, this one's pretty much the same at THIS ONE, except for today's card I used my embossing folder to stamp my background before heat embossing. Just ink your embossing folder on the side the design is raised on and place your card over it. Run a brayer over the card to transfer the ink. It's an easy way to maximize your supplies.

Dies used: Tim Holtz Framelits

Blue and Green Birthday Card

Hello friends and visitors! Do you love cupcakes like me? I've whipped up this yummy birthday card to help Simon Says Stamp challenge blog celebrate their 7th birthday.

At the center of my card is Tim Holtz  Birthday Blueprint Framelits. I won this set on Tim's blog, and I've never used it! Shame on me! I've put my Distress Oxides to work to color both the cupcake and the Spellbinders circle die cut beneath the Tim Holtz doily die cut.

I used an embossing folder and white embossing powder to do some double embossing.  And of course, some more DOX and Distress inks to color my background panel. Here are some close ups of that wonderful chalky color that blends and fades so effortlessly. I can't wait to get the new colors!

Happy Birthday, Simon Says Stamp!
